Q – How do the tippet pockets work?

A – The tippet pockets have two dividers inside of them to keep three spools of tippet materials separated. The pockets have two cover flaps that close over the top of the tippet spools, which have hook and loop (Velcro™) sewn between them. The tippet from each spool passes up through holes in the bottom cover towards the rear of the pocket, threads across the hook and loop and then goes up and out through holes in the top cover where it can be grasped for use. T
he tippet spools should be loaded with the devices to hold the end of the tippet removed so the spools turn freely. The tippet material has enough tension on it not to pull out too easily and the spools inside do not get tangled.

Q - How should the belt fit me?

A - Order your belt vest in the same size as your regular pant size. The belt vest is made larger in order to go over clothing. There is enough extra webbing behind the buckle to adjust the belt about 4” larger to accommodate heavy waders and extra clothing in cold weather. While a person is wearing regular clothing, it should not slide down over the hips and should slide up and stay under the armpits when the belt is ordered in the right size.

Q – Do I have to buy all of the accessories?

A – The accessories do not have to be purchased as part of the belt vest. The belt vest was designed to take advantage of the best features of the accessories offered. For examples, the coil retractor attached to the line clipper pins to a webbing reinforced place on the large fly box pocket. The round retractor reel for the forceps has a long plastic coated line and is not available in many fly stores. The 4 ½” Dr.Slick™ forceps are short and stay out of the way. The Tach-It™ magnetic fly box has a place in the right large fly box pocket designed to fit it perfectly. You may use all your own accessories but these are offered at less than retail prices!

Q – Can I get other colors or styles?

A – Custom belt vests can be made to suit your needs. Examples include vests in other colors and left handed models.

Q – Why are these vests made in Montana?

A – The belt vest is made in Montana by hard working, tax paying citizens instead of in a sweat shop in Indonesia or Mexico. The quality of materials and workmanship is easier to control here at home. The product does end up costing more than something bought at a discount store!
